The solution we gave the client
Our diagnostic inspection revealed two issues: hydrostatic pressure building up under the floor and three vertical shrinkage cracks in the foundation walls. We proposed a comprehensive interior waterproofing system.
First, we jackhammered a trench around the interior perimeter of the basement floor. We installed a perforated drain tile system surrounded by washed stone to catch rising water before it could breach the floor. This system fed into a heavy-duty cast-iron sump pump with a battery backup, ensuring the basement stays dry even if the power goes out during a storm. For the wall cracks, we used a high-pressure epoxy injection system that filled the cracks from the inside out, effectively welding the foundation back together and sealing it against moisture.
The result
Two weeks after completion, Cambridge experienced three days of heavy rain. Dr. Aris reported that for the first time in ten years, his basement floor was bone dry. The musty smell has completely dissipated.
I was skeptical because I’ve tried ‘sealants’ before that didn’t work. Log Masonry explained the science behind why my basement was leaking. The sump pump system is quiet and effective. It feels like a brand new house. Thank you for giving us our basement back.
